Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot, Veuve Clicqout took a bold turn in 1805 when his son’s widow, Barbe Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot, took over. Defying the norms of her time, she led with vision and ingenuity, creating the first known vintage champagne in 1810, inventing the riddling table in 1816, and crafting the first blended rosé champagne in 1818.
