2012 Pavillon Rouge Du Ch. Margaux 75CL
TASTING NOTES:
This is a Pavillon Rouge that should admirably stand the test of time for 15-20 years. Its impressively long finish adds to its appeal and value. This wine will actually benefit from several years of bottle age and keep for 20 years. |
Since the 17th Century, the first wine of Château Margaux has been recognised as being one of the greatest wines in the entire world. It owes its unique qualities to the genius of its terroir as well as to the passionate work of a succession of generations. With its own legacy dating back to the 17th century, the Second Wine of Château Margaux, officially named Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux in 1908, is just as important part of the estate’s history as its Grand Vin.
For the past few years, a third of the harvest has gone into the First Wine and one third into the Pavillon Rouge. While not quite as complex and magical as its older brother, Pavillon Rouge offers a beautiful balance of power and softness on the palate. While ready to be opened a bit earlier than the First Wine, it will still age nicely beyond 30 or 40 years.
