The Segla 2014 is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. It has a simple blackberry and briar-scented bouquet, just a touch of fresh black olive coming through with aeration.
The palate is medium-bodied with dry, rather scrawny tannin and it feels a little pinched and austere towards the finish. To be honest, I was seeking more substance here, a bit more breeding.

To taste a glass of Segla is the promise of this and much much more. Château Rauzan-Segla's little brother was born under a lucky star. One that reveals artisanal savoir-faire which has been further enhanced by modern technologies and practices. Yet, over the years and successive harvests, Segla has developed its own, unique personality.
