2014 Canon La Gaffeliere 75CL
TASTING NOTES: Wine Rating: WS 94 points Drink by: 2020 - 2035 This cuts a wide swath, with mouthwatering tobacco and warm ganache notes leading the way, followed by a wave of fig, blackberry, and black currant preserves. Shows remarkable definition already, even though the structure is strident. Tempting now, but just put this in the back of the cellar. Best from 2020 through 2035. |
"Established in the 12th century in Germany's northern Wurttemberg Valley, the von Neipperg earldom comprised some thirty villages and market towns, including Schwaigern, which remains the family seat to this day. Ennobled during the Holy Roman Empire, they served the imperial family of Austria starting in the 16th century, contributing officers and diplomats for many years. Two figures stand out: Count Eberhard-Friedrich von Neipperg and Count Adam-Adalbert von Neipperg.
The family has made wine in Germany since the 13th century, and viticulture has never stopped being a central part of their life. Custodian of some 800 years of winegrowing tradition, the talented inheritor Stephan von Neipperg has brought the wines from these Châteaux to the pinnacle of quality."
