2020 Hyon la Fleur 75CL
TASTING NOTES:
|
"After dedicating 44 years to crafting exceptional wines for the renowned Petrus estate in Pomerol, Jean-Claude Berrouet, along with his youngest son, embarked on a new venture, establishing Chateau Hyon la Fleur in 2019, a winery with roots tracing back to the 1980s. Upholding the same principles that elevated him to legendary status, the outcome is a delightful right-bank wine, whose taste and quality rival those of its esteemed Grand Cru Classé neighbors—Laroque, Tour Saint-Christophe, and Tertre Roteboeuf.
Chateau Hyon la Fleur Saint-Emilion is meticulously crafted from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, hand-picked by the Berrouet family from 40-year-old vines thriving in their 2.55-hectare limestone terroir. Adding intrigue to the label is the portrayal of a goldfinch and cherry blossoms, paying homage to Berrouet's hometown village of Itxassou in the Basque region."
