2019 Vieux Chateau Saint Andre 75CL
TASTING NOTES:
|
"Jean-Claude developed a friendship with the owner of a modest estate in Montagne, which sparked his decision to acquire four hectares of vineyards there. Naming his newfound property Vieux Château Saint André, he crafted his first vintage in 1978. His son, Jeff, entered the family enterprise in 2002 and currently oversees its operations. During his time, the estate has expanded from six hectares in 2002 to approximately 12 hectares today. With clay and limestone soil, the vineyard is predominantly planted with 85% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc.
Following conventional viticultural practices prevalent in the region, the vines are managed in a traditional manner. The estate ceased herbicide usage five or six years ago and is presently in the process of achieving the highest level of Haute Valeur Environnementale certification, a French accreditation that promotes eco-friendly methods."
