2018 Pavie Macquin 75CL
TASTING NOTES:
|
Château Pavie Macquin was founded in the 19th century by Albert Macquin, the man credited for introducing grafted vines to France thus saving the country's vineyards from destruction by phylloxera. He is truly “the man of reconstruction”. Henri Enjalbert writes: “You have to imagine Albert Macquin, for more than thirty years, as the great master of the transformation of the St Emilion vineyard”. He developed plot monitoring of the vine in a scientific manner.
Today the Château is still owned by Macquin's descendants, the Corre and Charpentier families. Its vineyard has a prime location atop the plateau overlooking the limestone ledge of the Cote de Saint-Emilion. Château Pavie Macquin's high concentration of clay in its soil is ideal for producing generous and full-bodied Merlot dominated wines.
