The 2016 Beaune 1er Cru Du Château has a perfumed bouquet with rose petal scents filtering through the red cherry and wild strawberry scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, showing some tightness toward the finish and perhaps without the same flow as the Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières.

Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest wine houses in Burgundy and one of the largest landowners in the Côte d’Or, perpetuating traditions for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations.

In 1775, Joseph Bouchard acquired the first vines in Volnay in the famous “Caillerets” climate, and began building the family estate. Over the centuries, the House has been devoted to attaining highly renowned parcels to produce exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
