2014 Les Cruzelles 75CL
TASTING NOTES:
The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin with ample blackberry and bilberry; grainy in texture with a pleasurable marine/oyster shell element lending personality on the finish. This is very fine. |
Château Les Cruzelles in Lalande de Pomerol was purchased in 2000 by Denis Durantou who is better known for owning one of the top estates in Pomerol, Château L'Eglise Clinet.
Located in the commune of Neac, not far from his Pomerol estate, the terroir of Château Les Cruzelles shares many similarities with his Pomerol chateau due to its rich, clay and gravel soil. However, the soils for Les Cruzelles have more gravel with less clay.
The terroir of Les Cruzelles was exactly what Denis Durantou was hoping to find in this region as this allowed him to expand his massal selection program. The 10 hectare vineyard of Château Les Cruzelles is planted to 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc which could be the highest proportion of Cabernet Franc in the appellation of Lalande de Pomerol.
