2009 Troplong Mondot 75CL
Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Troplong Mondot bounds out of the glass with plum preserves, spice cake, mincemeat, and potpourri scents plus suggestions of exotic spices, incense, and a waft of balsamic.
Full-bodied, super rich, concentrated and plushly textured, the hedonic fruit possesses loads of spicy layers and a very long and decadent finish. If you love wines you can stand a spoon up in, you're gonna go nuts over this extravagant beauty.
In a region where most properties hardly exceed 10 hectares, Troplong Mondot (founded in the 17th century) dominates the landscape. Located at the highest point of the appellation, its ‘terroir’ benefits from an exceptional 360° exposure and incomparable soil complexity. In this atypical panorama, the vineyard is part of a natural heritage whose biodiversity is a long-standing reality. As the outcome of this perfect balance, the wines reflect the estate’s riches and reveal an identity like no other.
Château Troplong Mondot, a First Classified Growth, is considered to be at the top of the Saint-Emilion appellation, with its blend comprising 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Christine Valette-Pariente and her husband Xavier Pariente have managed the estate together since 1980 and have achieved excellence through these powerful and finely structured wines. Following the takeover of Château Troplong Mondot by the SCOR group in 2017, Aymeric de Gironde, former General Manager of Cos D'Estournel, became president of the property’s board and set as his goal to make Troplong Mondot one of the greatest wines of the world.
