2012 Brane Cantenac 75CL
TASTING NOTES: Wine Rating: RP 90 points Drink by: 2017 - 2029 Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the Château, the 2012 Brane-Cantenac, now in bottle, has developed a satisfying bouquet of blackberry, tar and tobacco, keeping within the Brane-Cantenac style, but perhaps delivering a little more fruit intensity than it showed out of barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and well-judged acidity. There is a pleasant fleshiness here with a salinity on the finish that urges another sip. |
"At the heart of the distinguished Margaux appellation, Château Brane-Cantenac stands proudly. Begun 250 years ago, Brane-Cantenac’s legend is the tale of a thriving relationship between man and earth, which grows stronger as the ages go by. Named ‘Hostein’ in the 18th Century, this great wine estate was bought by the Gorce family, and produced one of the Medoc’s most renowned wines long before the 1855 classification.
The name of the second wine, Baron de Brane, is an homage to the famous Baron Jacques-Maxime de Brane, the 'Napoleon des Vignes', owner of the property in the 19th Century. For the past four generations the Lurton family has been at the helm, devoted wardens who continue to ensure that the property flourishes, producing wines of the greatest quality."
