2014 Cote De Baleau 75CL
Wine Rating: RP 89 points
Drink by: 2018 - 2028
The 2014 Cote de Baleau has a straightforward and slightly leathery bouquet with ample red berry fruit, mixed here with sage and later, scorched earth.
The palate is medium-bodied with fresh red cherry and red peppercorns on the entry. It feels lively and tensile and exudes more energy than the nose, the finish bright and vivid. The structure here suggests that it gained weight during barrel maturation and it will age nicely over the next decade.
Château Cote de Baleau’s history started in 1643 when one of the descendants of the Reiffers family was awarded with Côtes de Baleau vineyard and the Great Walls for his service as a loyal soldier. The estate was promoted to Grand Cru Classe de Saint-Emilion in 2012.
It has remained to the Reiffers family until 2013 when the Cuvelier family, owner of Clos Fourtet, Poujeaux, Grands Murailles, bought the Château.
